Argon Gas Production Alongside Methanol Manufacturing
Given the critical role of argon gas in strategic industries such as steel, welding, medical equipment, and electronics, developing domestic production of this noble gas is of high importance. Relying on the dedication of its skilled managers and experts, Kaweh Methanol Complex successfully achieved, in 2024, through its Air Separation Unit (ASU) and effective utility phase studies, a daily production capacity of over 125 tons of high-purity argon as a by-product. This achievement represents a significant step toward optimal use of existing capacities and the overall development of the complex.
(soon)Calcium chloride production
Calcium chloride (CaCl₂) is a chemical compound composed of calcium and chlorine. At room temperature, it appears as a solid and is highly soluble in water. Its physical form is white crystals, and it is produced in two grades: food-grade and industrial. In line with addressing wastewater issues from the production process, recycling water, and generating a by-product, the Kaweh Soda Maragheh plant has designed and built a calcium chloride production unit. This process produces granular calcium chloride with a purity of 77%. Considering the global consumption of about 5 million tons and the increasing demand in recent years, this product also has a significant export market potential.
